Being able to put yourself first when you’re a teacher is HARD! How to Use Your Sub Plans
Planning With Advanced Notice
If possible, I highly recommend prepping these sub plans ahead of time. This will alleviate a lot of stress because you won’t have to worry about emailing files and finding someone to print them for you in the morning.
My favorite system for organizing sub plans is a sub binder. I love it because it doesn’t take up any space in my classroom, but I can leave it on my teacher-table EVERY afternoon when I leave, just in case! Then it’s already there and ready.
In my sub binder I put all of the templates (from the free download) that I’ve filled out with my specific information, and then three main tabs (one for each of the three days I have planned). After each tab, I place the five lesson plan pages and their accompanying work pages that I’ve already photocopied.
*TIP* To create a little more organization, I photocopy the lesson pages onto a bright-colored paper so they’re clearly separated in the binder.
That’s truly it! That’s all you have to do! These sub plans can be used at any time during the year and all of your classroom info is already there. Take your day and know that you did everything possible to make your classroom run smoothly from home.
It’s possible that you are finding this page because you have to be absent and are planning NOW. Don’t worry! You’ve got this! You can easily open the Powerpoint or Keynote file from your download and quickly type in the most necessary information. Then email that file along with the PDF of the sub plans and know that EVERYTHING your sub needs is there to make the day successful.
I truly hope these free sub plans allow you to take a day off when you need it, instead of dragging yourself to school because you feel it’s easier than planning to be out.
